CG Sesame Street

Visit the link above to see a new CG muppet short. You may be surprised to hear that I wasn't completely disgusted by it. While it doesn't look real close to the muppets we've all come to love, it does have a nice feel to it.

And when you compare it to other kids animated product (as a parent, I've had to sit through plenty), it actually has a pretty high production value.

Take a look and let me know what you think.

Wow. I normally agree with your taste, but have to differ on this one! It's like they spent lots of money on all the superficial details of muppets, and left out the only really important part: the charming way that muppets move.

Remember that old CG experiment they did back in the day? Waldo, I think his name was? I liked that a million times better than this. He was shiny and plasticky and low-res, but he had charm and character because he was performed by a real muppeteer. (Nothing against keyframe animation, I do it myself for a living. This example of it just didn't work for me.)
